This was an unbelieveable night at Letná! It looked as bad as it could in the second half, but Sparta managed to score three important goals, defeated SønderjyskE and advanced to the Europa League group stage.

Matěj Pulkrab started up front against SønderjyskE, Kadlec switched with Costa and played a left back, while Bořek Dočkal was missing due to injury.

Sparta started the match off well, Šural fired high over the bar with the first chance after a nice pass by Frýdek. Lukáš Vácha’s long-range effort was saved by SønderjyskE’s keeper Skender.

Sparta had more possession, but it were the Danes to strike first. Uhre beat Koubek from a breakaway and then Klove added one more to freeze the audience of more than 13 thousands at the GENERALI Arena.

David Lafata then scored the goal of hope shortly before the break to set the halftime score.

Sparta started the second half with a massive pressure and was rewarded with Šural’s equaliser. Josef found Karavaev’s free kick in the box and netted it with a header.

It was almost over, when Zdeněk Ščasný sent out Jakub Brabec, who – as a centre back – was supposed to strengthen the offence. But after only a few seconds on the pitch, he scored a lovely header to set the final score.

After a tremendous 3-2 win, Sparta advanced to the Europa League group stage.
