Sparta conceded in the final minutes of the match and suffered a 0-1 loss in Brno. Despite the result, they clinched the second spot in the league table, as Mladá Boleslav lost at Bohemians.

Milan Piško debuted in the first Czech top division, having replaced Jakub Brabec, who was suspended after his eight yellow card.

Sparta were more active in the first half, but lacked accuracy. Marek Matějovský fired twice above the crossbar, and then wide of the post, being completely unmarked in the box. Ondřej Zahustel was also close to opening the score, but couldn’t beat the home goalkeeper Melichárek from a close distance.

Brno had two good chances in the first half, but Hyčka’s low shot missed the goal by a metre, and Řezníček’s heading effort was well saved by Bičík.

Lukáš Mareček had Sparta’s biggest chance of the second half, but he only hit the goalkeeper from a good position after a lovely ball, chipped over the home side’s defence by Matějovský. On the other side, Chrien wasted a great chance after a set piece, and aimed his header over the bar.

Alois Hyčka then set the final score two minutes before the final whistle, hitting the top right corner and giving Zbrojovka a 1-0 win.
