Only a minutes after arriving in Prague from a trip to Krasnodar, Sparta have found out the name of their next Europa League opponent. David Bičík wished for an English side, while Jakub Brabec and Zdeněk Ščasný won the team prediction competition.

„We’re pretty excited, it will be a great experience to play in Italy once again. Even though I wished to get an English team in the draw,“ Sparta goalkeeper David Bičík admitted.

What was the first thing to come to his mind?

„Well, Italy means good food and drinks,“ David joked. „But we know how difficult it will be. We haven’t had much time to get some information on the opponent, but I know Miroslav Klose plays there. He’s a top scorer, really famous, but he’s not alone in the squad,“ the goalkeeper continued.

„It will be a couple of great matches both for us and for the fans. Maybe a bit more interesting than the clash with Krasnodar. Even though we play the first leg at home, there’s always a chance to advance.“

„I’m happy we got Lazio. I actually predicted it, so I won the competition we had with the boys. I like Italy and I believe there will be a fantastic atmosphere on both stadiums. We actually could get only big names, but I’m really happy for Lazio,“ said Jakub Brabec.

The players remember the famous goal by Marek Kincl in the 2003-2004 season. “I remember that goal pretty well. We used to be ballboys back then, and I remember watching the match from the stands. It would be great to repeat the history,” Brabec remembers.

Jakub Brabec was not the only winner of the team prediction competition, though, as Zdeněk Ščasný got lucky as well.

“When I saw the list of possible opponents, I really didn’t want to get Shakhtar, but I’m happy for Lazio, as I won the competition. Let’s see who the winner will be on the pitch,” Ščasný said.

“Lazio seems like a great opponent. There will be a great crowd both home and away, we’re looking forward to two wonderful evenings. Regardless of advancing or not, I think we could have gotten a much more difficult opponent,” said the coach.
