Not under pressure

Tough job ahead for Sparta, who will try to succeed in Rome and get the result that would send them right to the Europa League’s quarterfinals. After a home 1-1 draw in the first leg, the coach and the players know that they will have to show their best to make it.

“It’s definitely going to be a much more difficult match than the one back in Prague. I expect Lazio to play more offensively, even though they do not necessarily need to score to advance,” said Jakub Brabec, Sparta’s centre back.

Even the statistics seem to be against Sparta, who have never won a European cup match in Italy.

“It would be amazing to end the series now, but I’m not that kind of a coach who follows these stats too much,” said the coach Zdeněk Ščasný.

“I watched a couple of Lazio’s matches and I saw their quality once again. Not only they have great individualities on their team, but the players all work on 100% on the whole pitch. Their style of play must really mean trouble to anyone,” the coach said.

Of course, even beating Krasnodar in the last round was a success for Sparta, but making it through another round would be really special for the club.

“We found ourselves in situation in which we don’t need to advance, we already made some success. But we want to keep on going, as we enjoy every bit of it. I believe that not being under pressure can be our advantage,” Jakub Brabec said.

Lazio host Sparta on Thursday with a kick-off at 7pm CET. In case you’ll be watching the match in the Czech Republic, make sure you tune in Czech TV!
