Summer signing Tal Ben Chaim has not yet joined the team in full training in Bad Häring, and has been training with fitness coaches. Why? It’s because of the thigh injury Tal suffered in the Israeli cup final last season.

“It was actually my last match in Israel. It was a big hit in my thigh and unfortunately it happened in the beginning, so I had to play the whole match until the penalty shoot-out,” Tal says.

Even though it is not a serious injury, the training staff led by Andrea Stramaccioni does not want to rush the return and risk Tal’s injury getting even worse.

“I can run, but I still can’t do quick and dynamic changes of direction. Unfortunately, that’s what football’s all about. So I train in the gym and in the pool here, and I work on the recovery with the fitness coaches,” Israeli winger explains.

Despite the injury, Tal has travelled to Austria with the squad, so he can get to know his new teammates. As usually, he sticks with other foreigners, mostly Néstor and Bogdan Vatajelu.

“It’s always easier to be together with the foreigners, that’s the same everywhere, I remember that from Israel, too. Apart from that, everyone has been really nice to me, making my first days with the team so much easier. And it will get even better when I start to play,” Tal says.
