Juniors to compete in Premier League International Cup

Sparta juniors will take part in the Premier League International Cup and will face the very best academy teams of England and the rest of Europe.

Premier League International Cup is an international competition with 12 top Premier League 2 sides, and 12 teams from the best academies in Europe, based on Premier League invitation. Villarreal CF from Spain are the last winners after beating PSV in the final, Manchester City were the winners the year before.

The tournament is for under-23 players, but three over-aged players and a goalkeeper are allowed to play.

The 24 teams will be split into six groups consisting of four teams. The group winners advance to the knock-out round, as well as two best second-placed teams. Only one leg will be played in the knock-out stage.
