Sparta defeated Jihlava 1-0 at home. Václav Kadlec scored the game-winning goal, returning back to play after an injury and leading the team as the captain.

Kadlec returned after being sidelined for almost a month and started with the captain armband. He even opened the score four minutes into the match, getting an amazing long pass by Lukáš Štetina and beating Jihlava keeper Hanuš comfortably.

Jihlava could answer right back, but Ikaunieks couldn’t score after a misunderstanding in the home side’s defence and got denied by Dúbravka.

Sparta could not add the second until the halftime whistle, despite having a number of good opportunities. Sharp crosses by Vatajelu and Costa just flew past the goal and Hanuš made good saves on efforts by Kadlec and Šural.

Jihlava’s second big chance of the match came early in the second half, as a cross found Zoubele behind the defensive line and Dúbravka had to make another brilliant save on his header. On the other side, Costa pressed well and won the ball for Šural, who was slow in the finishing phase and missed the goal completely.

Sparta managed to hold on to the lead until the final whistle. The score remain unchanged, as good chances by Lafata and Zahustel ended up just wide of Jihlava’s goal.
