Sparta hosted Turkish side Fenerbahce in the last friendly of this summer’s pre-season. They were the better team, but couldn’t score the game-winner.

Star players like van Persie or Skrtel didn’t play and Sparta were missing some of their key parts, too, as David Lafata only started on the bench.

Kehinde Fatai started up front from the beginning, and had Sparta’s biggest chance of the first half. After Fenerbahce’s defence failed to clear the ball, Fatai was running all alone, but his weak shot didn’t make any significant problems to Fenerbahce’s keeper.

On the other side, David Bičík had to make two brilliant saves on a huge shot by Tufan and another effort by Hasan Ali.

Sparta increased the pace in the second half and continued to create chances. Dočkal fired from the edge of the box after a clever play by Čermák, but only hit one of the defenders. Šural and Lafata missed with their headers from good position, and when Taskiran saved another shot by Frýdek, the match ended goalless.
