Sparta’s match of the 19th league round at Dukla Prague, was cancelled due to bad weather. It has not been yet set when the match is going to be played.

On Monday evening, both teams actually finished their warm-ups, but moments before the match was supposed to start, it got cancelled after a quick inspection by the referees.

“We would not be able to protect the players’ health, the terrain was not ready,” Tomáš Kocourek, the main referee explained.

“It’s the right decision. Players’ health was the most important thing here, and this was exactly the situation which would put it to risk,” match delegate Miroslav Tulinger agreed.

Luckily, the team did not have to travel long on their way back, as both stadium are pretty close to each other. Ščasný’s squad returned back to Letná and had a regular training session.

“It was a right decision from the refs, it would be really hard to play football on this terrain,” Zdeněk Sčasný said.

Apart from league matches, there are other cup and Europa League fixtures in Sparta’s schedule, and it will be interesting to see where the rematch will fit.

“I don’t see it as a complication. We have a difficult schedule ahead, and if we played and someone got injured, it would be a much bigger problem than this,” the headcoach said.

In the upcoming fixture, Sparta are going to face Slovan Liberec away from home on Thursday, in the first leg of the Czech cup quarterfinal.
